Barthélémy comes from a single 5ha plot of vines known as ‘Les Rocs’ in front of the Chateau. The highest plot at Le Puy, with 60cm of red clay soil above limestone - "Calcaire a Asteries" -part of the limestone plateau that extends from Saint Émilion. Aged for 24 months in 228l barrels, this is earthy and multilayered with a rich, brooding black fruited palate. 2016 was an excellent, dry vintage with small, thick skinned berries delivering ripeness, yet combined with remarkable freshness.
