Grape - Touriga Nacional Country - Portugal Region - Península de Setúbal
Herdade do Cebolal are located South of 170km Lisbon in a valley between the Sierra de Santiago and the Serra do Cercal mountains. Close proximity to the Atlantic means cooling sea breezes allow for a long growing season where the grapes develop full ripeness whilst still retain fresh acidity.
Luís Mota Capitão is the fifth generation of his family to helm this estate, employing strictly organic methods - local seaweed is used as fertiliser, sheep are used for weed control, the estate keeps bees and is extending their plantings of native cork and eucalyptus trees.
A deceptive pale pink colour this is actually a serious, structured, gastronomic Rosé - made from Touriga Nacional, the most important grape in terms of quality used in Port production this has good weight on the palate yet is fresh and elegant with a savoury depth. Serious, grown-up, Rosé, lovely stuff.
